People Strategy – Where Do I Start?
You know you should have a people strategy, but you’re not sure where to start…
The best way to start this, is to break it down into sections and work on one aspect of the journey at a time.
- Create a targeted talent acquisition strategy
Make sure you’re attracting the right candidates by reviewing the language used on your website, in the job description, and in your interviews.
- Develop an adaptable retention strategy
Each person is motivated differently based on a variety of factors. Make sure there’s room for versatile motivating elements, and that these components can “grow” with team members in their individual roles.
- Establish a realistic exit/replacement strategy
Make sure you know what transitions could look like, how knowledge could be more easily transferred, and how onboarding/offboarding can be done as efficiently as possible. Then, as each team member goes through the cycle, gather feedback to improve it for the next employee.
Remember that a people strategy is essential if a business wants to drive up performance and get the best out of their people.
