As a leader, it’s important to accept the things you cannot change. It’s equally as important that your team embed this mentality. After all, the outcome you seek and the outcome you want depends on you.
There are so many situations that are outside of our control. Peoples feelings, the past, staff resignations, market conditions changing, competitive environment changing, and so on.
What you can control is how you handle these situations. What can you do to influence the outcome? You can’t always control what’s happening around you, but you can always learn from them.
If you’re ever losing sleep, your temper or your team, stop what you’re doing and start assessing what the situation really is. Dissect it! What can you control within this? Is it worth expending resourceful energy on or is it a waste? Are you able to accept that you have no power over the situation and will need to let go?
Think of it like this:
If we control the controllable, everything else will follow
